The capabilities for the NF-4 are as follows:

* Shaft flex matching  for raw shafts or completed clubs

* Shaft measurement (calibrated to allow sharing of data with other NF-4 owners)

* Spine finding (bearing based)

* Spine finding (differential deflection)

* Shaft profiling  for raw shafts or completed clubs

The NF-4 will be strong competition for the frequency analyzer in the future because of its multi-tasking capabilities and ease of use. It is much easier to use for shaft matching, and profiling is a breeze. The bearing based spine finder is automatic. The differential deflection spine finding is somewhat time-consuming because you have to take readings in 180-degree rotation just like the frequency analyzer.

On the NF-4, one cpm difference in stiffness equals 0.036Kg for wood and 0.047Kg for irons. This gives you the ability to match shafts within  cpm. The biggest advantage for me is being able to kg (frequency) slope match a set of shafts before cutting. This process reduces the need for multiple dry fittings and multiple trims, trying to sneak up on the cpm number. Now all I need to do is make sure the heads fall into the proper gram sequence and you will hit your slope numbers on the first attempt.

You can purchase the NF-4 in a do-it-yourself kit, which includes all the hard to find parts. You will need to purchase the additional wood fasteners from your local hardware or home center. This puts the total components at approximately $250. It will take a first-time builder about 50 hours to digest the plans and to complete the project. A number of people have purchased the plans and kits and then discovered that they did not have either the time or the woodworking tools to complete the project. That is where I come in.
