JB's Pro Hydraulic Shaft Extractor
JB, This puller is a work of art. I put the Pro Model to work yesterday for the first time and put it through the acid test out of the box, a Dick's 29.95 Titanium MATRIX with a busted head. Pulled that bad boy in less than a minute. Anyone who has worked with that stuff knows that's an accomplishment. Pulled another steel shaft and the head was barely warm. Great clamping device. I'll pull a Cleveland Composite fairway today without being hot OR bothered. Wish I'd had this puller 15 years ago. Your spinefinder is a great tool also, made my old spinefinder obsolete.

Hi JB:
Thanks for the immediate shipping of the Pro Extractor I just ordered. I couldn't wait to try it... I spent a good hour the day before trying to take a fairway wood head off of a steel shaft. My $200 "screw type" puller could not budge the head. I put enough heat on it to melt a glacier... I think I lost my voice after all the swearing I did. Anyway, I got your product and the head was off in less than a minute. Thanks for a great product and great service. I really appreciate it.

JB,
I received my shaft puller and all I can say is WOW! I have never pulled shafts so easily. I will leave POSITIVE feed back imediately. Thank you!

Hello JB,
I just wanted to let you know how much I like the puller and spine tool I purchased off of you! They are absolutely incredible! I just wanted you to know how pleased I am with everything and can’t imagine ever having to buy another puller. Thanks again!

JB,
I am writing to let you know what a great shaft extractor you have created. Since I received it last week I have pulled about a dozen shafts. What a difference between my old one that failed and yours. Less heat, less effort = much less work. It also means I can save many more shafts and not worry about their tip integrity. Thanks so much for a great product.
Keep up the good work. Equipment like this keeps me from working so hard.

JB,
Just wanted to let you know again how well your puller is working for me. I have pulled over 100 shafts without a malfunction or a slip. As a matter of fact, today I pulled a Tommy Armour iron that I could only get about an inch of the shattered composite shaft into the new clamp. I cranked it down hard, applied a little heat, hit the jack and it popped off without any slippage. Now that's a great shaft extractor!
Thanks again for a great product. Now if I could just talk you into making a good loft and lie machine!

JB,
I received my hydraulic shaft puller within three days, which is great for shipping up here to
Your shaft puller is amazing!! I am a custom club maker that specializes in long drive. These guys are forever busting shafts or breaking heads and they need to salvage what components they can. They also need the job done quickly. The most time it took for your shaft puller to release a deep bore was 5 minutes max!! I can even pull iron heads with just a regular heat gun, not a torch.
I looked at shaft pullers that were over $1000.00 (US Dollars) that have not worked as well as yours.
All I can say to sum it up is (once again) "Listen to this guy, he knows his stuff". He will save you alot of time, effort, and frustration.
Keep on dreaming up great inventions to make the club maker’s load alot lighter!
Many Thanks,
Steve Balser
Have used it about ten times. I think it is the M.O.A.S.E. (mother of all shaft extractors).
Thanks,

JB,
The extractor worked very well. This was my first time using a pencil flame butane torch and while in the process, I was interrupted several times so I wasn’t able to break the epoxy bond as quickly as expected.
I know I cranked well beyond 500 lbs of pressure, so you can imagine how stubborn that head was. But with a little more heating, the head came right off! This was the first time that I didn’t break a sweat in tackling a 983 head! J J The 4 inch urethane clamp had an excellent grip with absolutely no slippage.
I’m sure the next head will take much less time.
Great product!

Mr Ballard,
I wanted to let you know I had a chance to use your shaft extractor and spinner this week-end. I could not be happier! The shaft extractor is absolutely top rate. Feel free to e-mail me if you decide to come out with any other golf- related tools.
Thanks,

PS - I will be plugging your product on FGI, a golf equipement forum on the net. Hope you get some business out of it.
What a tremendous device you have created! I couldn't be any more pleased. The first time I used it, the shaft was extracted quicker and easier than I could believe.
Thanks again for your help.

JB,
It works great and the cosmetics are fine as far as I'm concerned. I do find I need to pump it more than 10 times to get it to "automatically" start removing
the head when enough heat is applied but I'm sure these vary from pump to pump. I would recommend this to anyone. I'm anxious to use it for a deep bore- through removal.
Thanks for a great product!

JB,
I just received the puller and spine finder. You are a true craftsman!
I pulled two shafts in 10 minutes with only a heat gun.
Great product and fast shipping. Wow!

Hi JB,
I got the shaft extractor today. I just finished pulling 10 iron heads (steel shafts) and one driver head (graphite shaft). The thing works great! It actually makes the task seem like a joke it is so easy.
I factored in more of a hit from brokerage fees from Customs before purchasing and I'm extremely happy with the overall value I got even after adding in the brokerage fee and GST.
I just left you some good Ebay feedback.
Thanks,

Hi JB,
The shaft extractor got here Friday and it is a great tool! I am looking forward to using it a lot in my club building hobby as it makes shaft pulling a pleasure instead of a chore. I left positive feedback on ebay . Thanks!

JB,
I just received the extractor. I read all the instructions and put an old iron in just to see how it would go. I popped it loose in about two minutes. It took longer to read the instructions than it did to pop the first head! It worked just like you said it would.
Just three words....Wow, Wow, Wow!
Thanks

JB,
Feedback on the Shaft Extractor Pro:
First impression: Very solid, good looking tool. I was expecting this, based on what I had heard on the forums, and was not disappointed. Good instructions, too.
First use: Club was an old, beat up
Thanks again for such an easy-to-use product. I thought extracting shafts was going to be a pain.

Today we received JB's latest Professional Shaft Extractor. Now we have used his previous puller for almost two years. But the old one was showing a little wear after a dozen extractions a week. Sounds like a dentist!
Well the new one came and it was packed more carefully than we receive most of our golf components. It was wrapped in at least 5 layers of bubble wrap and then packed in a bunch of plastic peanuts. Couldn’t eat a one.
Then I checked his latest design out. Hmmmmmm. A new paint scheme with a powder coated body. It also included a much-upgraded hydraulic application device (jack). The extractor also came with a new shaft clamping handle and an upgraded fluid control mechanism that almost made the Pro Model worth the expense.
But could it live up to the latest and greatest we could have bought? Slam-dunk. The 983 gave up its shaft like a bass looking for an Uncle Wiggly.
Now the previous cranker is working just fine. But the new one will keep us from waiting in line to do what we do best. Scrap the old and useless and replace it with the newest and best. Hopefully this doesn’t include me!
Thanks, JB, for another time saver.

JB,
The Pro Shaft Puller has been wonderful. The greatest test was when I pulled a composite graphite/ti head (Cleveland Comp) and I knew I didn't want to get that head too hot. The steady and firm pressure on the hosel (and a wet towel wrapped on the

I am thrilled to death to have the extractor. I thought I wanted to bolt it down like my old one but quickly learned that it is totally unnecessary to do so. It is more useful to me by not being bolted down in my shop. I can now move it where I am working that day. I have extra benches down one wall and when one area is filled with drying clubs I can pick up the puller and move to a different bench and keep on truckin. This has allowed me to get more work done quicker without scrambling around like a chicken with my head cut off running back and forth to a stationary puller.
LOL - No, I haven't launched any heads yet. I figured 8 pumps would work fine until I used it for a time and then I could make some adjustments on the fly. I use a butane mini torch and I have learned with my old puller to watch the bolt for movement. As soon as I detect movement I cut the flame and start jacking and ease the head off slowly.
Thanks for the kind words about fitting. I get a real kick out of some of these scientists trying to get too anal about physics and thinking they are fitting. Most of them would be well served to learn something about the mechanics of the golf swing so they can relate their physics to the golf swing and how they interrelate and worry far less about harmonics. - LOL

Long ago when men cursed and beat the ground with sticks, it was called witchcraft. Today it's called golf.
Allen,
I have the Pro and I just let it sit on my workbench free-standing. I'm creating a work area for my son and we can move it where we need it and it does not need to be attached at all. I just put it on the edge of the bench and put the club in vertically, jack it 8 times and hit the hosel with a mini torch for a minute or so. When the bolt starts disappearing, jack the head the rest of the way off. It's so dad blame convenient and easy to use I use it for irons too. Lock the iron in, jack it 8 times and hit the hosel with a propane torch for about 7 or 8 seconds and jack it the rest of the way off. The head is cool and ready to reassemble in a matter of minutes because you don't use much heat to get it off.
Excellent investment not only because it works but it saves a lot of time and in business, time is money. Being portable it also saves me from having to duplicate the investment for the back bench.
Fairways and Greens...

JB,
I had no problem getting the head off. Thanks for your help. Also, I hit balls and played a few holes today with the spined clubs. Wow, what a difference! All the clubs swung like my 8 iron, which by the way, didn't need to be spined. So the proof is in the pudding! Thanks for all of your help and support. I'll let you know when I shoot the 59!

Everyone,
I just want to put out my endorsement for JB’s shaft extractor. I just pulled my first two shafts with it and I couldn’t believe how well it worked. I literally pulled one of the shafts in 45 seconds. Unbelievable. I can’t believe that I ever wasted money on anything else. Especially since I bought JB’s Spine Tool 2 years ago. Thanks JB for a great product at a reasonable price. You’ve outdone yourself with this tool. Every clubmaker in the world should be using this tool.

I just want to confirm that JB’s Pro Shaft Extractor is one of the best expenditures I have made. It is much easier and faster than the screw-type I was using. His spine finder is of top quality as well.

JB,
The Pro Extractor is the only shaft puller I've ever owned. As easy as it was for this NON-mechanical guy to work with, I will never need another shaft puller!
Easy, quick, very little heat needed (so the clubhead isn't damaged or needing to polish off scorching) the pulled shaft is also in good shape to be re-used.
Spend a bit extra than a cheap screw-type puller and you'll save much more money in time/labor besides that this tool is just plain fun to use.
I've pulled bore-throughs and even pulled carbon/graphite heads that are very sensitive to heat and it was a breeze! Consider what you'd pay to replace a head that you damaged vs. buying an excellent extractor like this one from the start!
Great Job J.B.!!

Hi Mr Ballard,
I purchased your spine and pro extractor back in January. You shipped it to Orlando for me to pick up when I was at the trade show, as I'm in the UK. I have to say that all the comments are totally justified. I have not had one failure on pulls or had any problem with the spine tool. I also want to say that the vertical flo with the head on is excellent. I've tried many different ways to throw it off and each time it matches... expecially on the cheaper shafts with the larger defined spines. Do you have further info, pics, etc.? I will be doing some instruction courses for the PGA next year and I would like to include the information for the students. Obviously, the methodology and credit will be attributed to you in any literature or correspondence.
All the best,
Shaun from the United Kingdom
